ICE Sued For Withholding Information About Criminal Illegal Aliens

President Joe Biden’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is now facing a lawsuit from the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) over its refusal to hand over internal agency information about a policy designed to hide the identities of the criminal illegal aliens arrested by ICE agents.

In an announcement on Thursday, IRLI general counsel and CEO Dale Wilcox announced that his watchdog group had filed a lawsuit against ICE after the agency refused to respond to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

The FOIA request included a demand for ICE to divulge internal information and emails discussing how the agency decides when to reveal the identity of a criminal illegal alien in press releases.

In a 2023 investigation, IRLI revealed that ICE had named 97% of criminal illegal aliens identified in press releases under former President Donald Trump. However, under Biden’s leadership, that number dropped to just 67%.

“ICE’s sudden decision to omit the names of alien offenders from press releases appears to be a deliberate attempt to keep the public from determining whether dangerous foreign criminals have been removed from the United States,” IRLI’s Director of Investigations Matt O’Brien explained in a statement. “That’s rather hypocritical coming from an administration that claims to be the most transparent in the history of the U.S.”

There have been numerous incidents recently of ICE refusing to name a criminal illegal alien in a press release about the individual’s arrest for heinous crimes — including a 27-year-old Ecuadorian illegal alien who was convicted of second-degree assault and indecent assault of a child in Danbury, Connecticut. Another instance involved the arrest of a 32-year-old Dominican illegal alien who was convicted of trafficking cocaine in Waterbury, Connecticut.

In a statement about ICE’s refusal to identify the perpetrators of these horrific crimes, Wilcox argued that it was “yet another shameless attempt by the current administration to hide the disastrous impact of its immigration policies.”

“Not including the names of criminal immigration violators is effectively flushing their cases down the memory hole so that watchdog groups will have a more difficult time holding this White House accountable for their destructive actions. The American people deserve transparency on this matter,” the statement continued.

This news is just the latest in a long line of evidence proving that the Biden administration cares more about protecting illegal aliens than protecting Americans from crime committed by illegal aliens.
