Economist Warns of Looming Economic Crisis, Links to Political Instability

Martin Armstrong, a noted financial and geopolitical analyst, has raised concerns about an impending economic collapse that could surpass the 2008 recession. Speaking with USAWatchdog.com, Armstrong linked the current economic instability to geopolitical tensions and political maneuvering.

Armstrong’s analysis, using his proprietary “Socrates” program, shows President Biden’s job approval rating plummeting to just 6% to 7%. Armstrong contends that this low approval is driving desperation within the Democratic Party. “The cases against Trump show you how desperate they are here. The reason they want Biden… is he is just a sock puppet. He’s not really in charge. He’s not making any decisions,” he explained.

As Biden’s approval rating nosedives, Armstrong predicts significant political shifts. He notes, “They are floating a balloon to see how it goes. All of a sudden, they want Biden to do a debate. Before, no debates. Why? Because they know he’s going to look bad… At the Democrat Convention, they will draft someone else, and that is most likely going to be Hillary.”

Armstrong highlights the critical connection between economic policies and the risk of war. He points out the massive $10 trillion U.S. debt maturing this year and China’s significant divestment of U.S. securities. “China dumped $53 billion in US debt in the first quarter of 2024… This is why they are talking about raising the capital gains to 44%. Why? If nobody is going to buy the debt, that’s when default comes.”

The potential for default is driving international tensions. Armstrong elaborates, “This is why they need war. This is why Europe is going into war… If you cannot sell the new debt, you have to default. If you have war… they get to default and blame Putin.”

With the 2024 election looming, Armstrong sees a critical juncture. “In November, it’s going to be Trump vs World War III regardless who is on the other side… If you get Hillary or you get Biden, it’s the same thing. Hillary is a neocon, and Biden says yes to whatever the neocons want. And the neocons clearly want war–a big one.”

Armstrong’s predictions paint a grim picture of the near future, suggesting that both economic and political instability are on the horizon, potentially leading to significant global conflict.
