Trump Invites Polish President To Trump Tower For Meeting

Even as he has seen his ability to conduct a national campaign hamstrung by a criminal trial schedule in New York City, presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump has found ways to share his domestic and foreign-policy agenda with voters without leaving the city.

On the heels of a visit to a bodega in Harlem where he highlighted a tough-on-crime platform, he invited the president of Poland to Trump Tower for a meeting on Wednesday.

Trump praised Andrzej Duda’s record in office as well as his widespread popularity among the Polish population.

“He’s doing a fantastic job,” the former president said. “The people of Poland love him, they really do.”

Trump went on to tout the close relationship he had with Duda during his first term in the White House.

“He’s my friend and we had four great years together,” he said.

According to the Trump campaign, the meeting lasted for roughly two and a half hours and touched on a number of pressing issues including the Israel-Hamas war and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

After the discussion concluded, Duda described it as a “friendly meeting in very nice atmosphere.”

The Polish president’s aide Wojciech Kolarksi recalled the Trump administration as “very fruitful for Polish-U.S. relations,” adding that the “excellent meeting” this week involved “two friends who reminisced on the time when for four years they cooperated while holding presidential offices.”

Despite having been out of office for more than three years, Trump has held several recent meetings with foreign leaders — including Hungarian President Viktor Orban, Argentinian leader Javier Milei and British Foreign Secretary David Cameron. Reports indicate he also had a conversation via phone with Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Ahead of Wednesday’s meeting, Duda, who was in New York to deliver a speech before the United Nations, described the chance to meet with Trump as an opportunity to strengthen U.S.-Polish relations.

“I have been invited by Mr. Donald Trump to his private apartment,” he said, asserting that it is beneficial for two friendly nations to ensure that their bond is as strong as it can be “with the representatives of various sides of the political stage.”
