Musk Demands Scholz Resign After Christmas Market Tragedy

Elon Musk has demanded German Chancellor Olaf Scholz step down following a deadly attack at a Christmas market in Magdeburg. Musk, in a post on X, referred to Scholz as an “incompetent fool,” intensifying criticism of the chancellor’s leadership amid rising political tensions.

The attack involved a vehicle ramming into a crowd, leaving two dead and dozens injured. Critics, including Musk, have pointed to the incident as another failure of Scholz’s handling of public safety and immigration policies. Scholz has faced mounting pressure over his administration’s inability to address security concerns.

Musk’s critique adds to his long-standing dissatisfaction with Scholz. The billionaire has frequently denounced what he calls the “crippling” globalist policies implemented under Scholz’s leadership, including mismanagement of the energy crisis and economic instability.

Beyond the attack, Musk has entered Germany’s political debate by endorsing the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, which he described as the nation’s “savior.” The AfD has been gaining ground ahead of the February 23 election, polling second and positioning itself as a major challenger to the country’s traditional parties.

Germany’s mainstream parties have dismissed the AfD as extremist and pledged to avoid coalitions with the group. Musk has rejected these labels, defending the party’s platform as rooted in “common-sense patriotic policies.” His support has sparked intense debate within Germany’s political circles.

Musk’s involvement in German politics follows his interest in backing populist movements elsewhere, including in the UK. His high-profile endorsements could shift voter sentiment in a critical election year.
