Harris Raising White Flag In NC? Campaign Reduces Ad Spending In North Carolina Amid Tight Race
With just days left until Election Day, Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign has slashed ad spending in North Carolina by $2 million, drawing attention as a potential sign the campaign is shifting focus. The initial $2.7 million ad purchase in North Carolina’s major markets was reduced on Tuesday, with the cut reported ahead of Harris’ scheduled rally in Raleigh.
While Harris holds a lead in the Raleigh-Durham area, recent polls indicate a close race in North Carolina, where she and President Donald Trump are tied at 47% each.
Trump, however, maintains leads in Charlotte and western North Carolina, as well as the state’s coastal areas. Harris’ Wednesday rally in Raleigh follows Trump’s rally scheduled in Rocky Mount, where he is rallying supporters.
on Monday the Harris-Walz campaign reserved $2.7 million worth of ads in North Carolina for the last stretch of the campaign, only to turn around and kill more than $2 million of its reservations on Tuesday.https://t.co/0KCPjoStl7

North Carolina is seeing strong early voter turnout, especially among Republicans. Registered Republicans are outpacing Democrats in turnout, with over 3 million votes cast so far. Andy Jackson, with the Civitas Center at the John Locke Foundation, highlighted that while Republican turnout has increased, Democrats are experiencing a significant decrease compared to 2020. According to Jackson, Democratic turnout is down by over 340,000 voters, while Republican turnout is up by 9,000.

Why would one person in #NorthCarolina vote blue?
Why would you vote for #Harris or any #Democrat.
My God, #Harris just sent $43 million to #Ukraine. https://t.co/HZmfASaDCP

Lower engagement among young and Black voters is also impacting the Democrats. According to the Carolina Journal, early votes among Black voters are down by over 40,000 compared to the 2020 election, when Black voters overwhelmingly supported Joe Biden. Similarly, turnout among Democrats aged 18-25 has dropped by 37,000, while Republican turnout in this age group has remained steady.
