Gunman Used Drone For Surveillance Before Attempted Trump Assassination

A Wall Street Journal report has revealed that the gunman who allegedly fired at President Donald Trump used a drone to conduct surveillance of the rally site before the attack. This new detail has intensified scrutiny over the security measures in place during the event.

Thomas Matthew Crooks, the alleged shooter, flew the drone along a predetermined path to gather aerial footage just hours before the rally on July 13, according to law enforcement officials. The discovery of explosives in Crooks’ car has led many to believe that he intended to cause even more destruction beyond the shooting.

The incident has led to a blame game between local law enforcement and the Secret Service, with both parties accusing each other of failing to prevent the security breach.

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has been the focus of heavy criticism due to the security failures. Despite taking responsibility for the lapses, Cheatle has stated that she will not resign from her position. Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) expressed her frustration with the situation, highlighting the need to verify facts and ensure accountability.

“The thing that is so frustrating about this is we’re getting these bits and pieces we’re trying to verify and make certain that we know what is information, what is rumor, and that we hold the director to account,” Blackburn said during a segment on Fox News. “This is just unbelievable! What a mess!”

The series of leaks and revelations have put the Secret Service under significant pressure to explain how such a severe security failure could occur, endangering the former president and others at the rally. As more details emerge, the scrutiny on the security agencies involved continues to grow.
