Grassley Blasts Wray’s Leadership, Demands Accountability At FBI
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has called for the resignation of FBI Director Christopher Wray, accusing him of failing to uphold transparency and allowing political bias to infect the agency. Grassley’s sharp criticism was outlined in an 11-page letter sent to Wray, highlighting a series of leadership failures.
Grassley expressed his disappointment in Wray’s inability to deliver on the promises he made during his 2017 confirmation hearing, including commitments to transparency and whistleblower protection. “Promises made, promises broken has become a recurrent theme under your leadership,” Grassley wrote.
The senator criticized the FBI’s handling of the Hunter Biden investigation, accusing the bureau of ignoring evidence for three years. He also condemned the FBI’s promotion of the Steele dossier, calling it an “Orwellian” attempt to push false narratives about Trump’s campaign colluding with Russia.
Grassley highlighted whistleblower allegations that hundreds of FBI employees retired or resigned to avoid accountability for misconduct, including sexual harassment. He also slammed the bureau’s failure to properly vet Afghan refugees, which left the United States exposed to potential security risks.
President-elect Donald Trump has echoed Grassley’s concerns, nominating Kash Patel to replace Wray. Trump has accused Wray of overseeing politically motivated investigations, including the raid on Mar-a-Lago, which he described as a blatant abuse of power.
Grassley’s letter reflects mounting frustration with the FBI’s leadership. As the agency faces increasing scrutiny, calls for accountability and reform are likely to intensify under the incoming administration.
