FBI Faces Scrutiny Over Pipe Bomb Investigation As Cell Providers Dispute Claim

Nearly four years after pipe bombs were planted outside the RNC and DNC headquarters, questions about the FBI’s investigation are intensifying. A recent report challenges a critical claim made by the FBI regarding corrupted phone data, adding to concerns about the unresolved case.

Former FBI Assistant Director Steve D’Antuono testified last year that corrupted data from a cell provider hindered efforts to identify the suspect. However, Rep. Barry Loudermilk of Georgia, who chairs the House Administration Oversight Subcommittee, revealed that major phone providers have denied supplying corrupted data. “Every major cell carrier responded and confirmed that they did not provide the FBI corrupted data,” Loudermilk told Just the News.

The surveillance footage, released in March 2021, shows an individual placing an explosive device near the DNC headquarters. Despite extensive efforts, including interviews with over 800 people and geofencing techniques to track mobile activity, the suspect has not been identified. Critics have questioned why a suspect with such clear video evidence remains at large.

The bombs, planted on Jan. 5, 2021, the night before the Capitol protests, did not detonate. The incident, initially overshadowed by the events of Jan. 6, has resurfaced as a focal point for lawmakers like Loudermilk. He has pressed FBI Director Christopher Wray to clarify the agency’s handling of phone data and whether the bureau reached out to carriers to verify its claims.

While the FBI has faced scrutiny for its handling of other Jan. 6-related investigations, this case stands out due to the severity of the threat posed by the bombs. Loudermilk noted that the lack of resolution raises serious questions about federal law enforcement’s effectiveness and transparency.

The pipe bombs remain an unsolved mystery, fueling public skepticism about the official account of events surrounding Jan. 6. Calls for accountability and a clearer explanation of the investigation are growing as lawmakers continue to demand answers.
