Elon Musk’s DOGE Agents Launch Aggressive Push To Cut IRS Waste

Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has officially begun its mission in Washington, D.C., targeting the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and other federal agencies in a sweeping effort to eliminate government waste. Backed by President-elect Donald Trump, DOGE is rapidly positioning itself as a force for massive government reform.
Originally announced after Trump’s election victory, DOGE was formed as a privately funded organization aimed at slashing inefficiencies in federal operations. Musk, alongside biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, has built the initiative into a major player in Washington, promising to reduce the federal budget by as much as $2 trillion through downsizing agencies and cutting unnecessary programs.

@DOGE I hope you look into the IRS and illegal surveillance. No search warrant needed.

DOGE agents, currently operating out of SpaceX’s D.C. offices, have already begun reviewing the IRS and other key departments, including Homeland Security, Veterans Affairs and Health and Human Services. Early reports show the group’s aggressive approach in identifying bloated spending and bureaucratic redundancy.
86k new IRS agents hell bent on destroying small businesses as Biden planned. Hmmm – can’t wait for the defunding to start. Can’t be soon enough. What else will we find? Popcorn please! Gooool Elon!!!! DOGE! https://t.co/WyZ8cmcz5N

Musk has been clear about his ambitious goals. While he initially aimed to cut $2 trillion from the federal budget, he acknowledged that even achieving $1 trillion in savings would be a significant accomplishment. “If we try for $2 trillion, we’ve got a good shot at getting $1 [trillion],” Musk remarked, highlighting his commitment to trimming government excess.
@realDonaldTrump @JDVance @elonmusk @VivekGRamaswamy @DOGE

Despite operating as a private entity, DOGE’s close ties to Trump’s transition team have raised concerns among some lawmakers about its influence over federal operations. Skeptics argue that DOGE’s rapid growth and direct access to government agencies could blur the line between private oversight and political influence.
I have a suggestion for DOGE, take the 80k plus IRS agents hired by the Biden administration and repurpose them as board patrol agents. If they refuse, their choice. At least they won't get paid unemployment or severance.

Still, DOGE is expanding rapidly. With 50 staff members already in place, the organization plans to grow to 100 employees by the time Trump is inaugurated. This growth reflects the urgency behind Musk and Trump’s shared vision to overhaul the federal government.
As DOGE digs deeper into federal spending, government agencies are bracing for substantial cuts. Musk’s bold initiative signals that a new era of government accountability and financial discipline may be just around the corner.
