CNN’s Kaitlan Collins Deletes Post Promoting Luigi Mangione’s Legal Fund After Backlash

CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins is facing criticism after reportedly sharing a link to the legal defense fund for Luigi Mangione, the man accused of assassinating UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. After swift backlash erupted online, Collins deleted the post, but not before users took notice.

Collins, who serves as CNN’s White House correspondent and anchor, initially shared a link to the website created by Mangione’s defense team. The site features messages from Mangione, thanking supporters and acknowledging the financial contributions made toward his legal fund. The fund has already received hundreds of thousands of dollars from sympathizers.

Mangione, 26, was arrested in December after a days-long manhunt. He is facing multiple state and federal charges, including first-degree murder in furtherance of an act of terrorism. Authorities allege that Mangione targeted Thompson, ambushing him outside a hotel in New York City. Surveillance footage reportedly shows him shooting Thompson in the back.

Bullet casings recovered from the scene contained messages such as “deny,” “delay,” and “depose,” phrases associated with insurance claims, fueling speculation that the attack was politically motivated. A manifesto allegedly written by Mangione, discovered by authorities, further criticized the healthcare industry.

Left-wing activists have disturbingly rallied around Mangione, portraying him as a crusader against corporate greed. Some have created games celebrating his actions, while others, including leftist journalist Taylor Lorenz, have publicly minimized Thompson’s murder.

Collins has not commented on her deleted post. However, her reported involvement in promoting the defense fund has sparked fresh concerns over media bias, particularly within CNN, which has been accused of shielding leftist extremism while aggressively targeting conservatives.
