Biden Accidentally Reads Cues From Teleprompter Again
Once again, President Joe Biden has displayed more evidence of his cognitive decline — as he accidentally read the cue on his teleprompter that told him to “pause.”
During a Wednesday speech at the North American Building Trades Unions (NABTU) 2024 Legislative Conference, Biden was caught reading the word “pause” from his teleprompter. It appeared that Biden’s remark just before the “pause” was designed to trigger the crowd to begin chanting, thus the teleprompter told the president to be silent for a moment to allow for the crowd’s cheers.
“Imagine what we could do next. Four more years,” Biden said — triggering the crowd to chant “Four more years” in what many of Biden’s opponents believe appeared to be a manufactured moment.
However, immediately after making that remark, just before the crowd started chanting, Biden could be heard saying the word “Pause” — reading it off of his teleprompter without understanding that it was meant as a direction, not part of the speech.

The incident prompted widespread mockery on social media, with many comparing Biden to actor Will Ferrell’s character Ron Burgundy, who read a question mark out loud off of the teleprompter in the movie “Anchorman.” The news director in the movie responded to Burgundy’s gaffe by shouting at the control room staff that “anything you put on that prompter, Burgundy will read!”
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Biden “accidentally” read the directions off of the teleprompter. The most infamous of these incidents happened in June 2022, where the president was heard stating: “End of quote. Repeat the line.”
“Women are not without electoral or political power, it is noteworthy that the percentage of women who register to vote and cast a ballot is consistently higher than the percentage of the men who do so, end of quote, repeat the line,” Biden shouted at the time.

This gaffe was mocked on social media, but the White House decided to take action to try to memory-hole the problem — changing the official transcript of the speech to say, “Let me repeat the line,” and having Democrats repeatedly insist that this was what Biden said, despite the clear gaffe in the video. It is unclear whether the White House or their Democrat allies will attempt this tactic again for Biden’s “pause” gaffe, or simply ignore it until it is no longer relevant.
