Trump’s Border Chief May Take Legal Action Against NJ Governor Over Alleged Harboring Of Illegal Immigrant

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy is facing intense scrutiny after claiming that an individual with unresolved immigration status was living in his home. President Donald Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, has vowed to investigate Murphy’s statements and pursue legal action if federal laws were violated.

Murphy made the remarks during a public event, boasting that he was providing housing to someone still in the process of resolving their immigration status. He went a step further by taunting federal authorities, saying, “Good luck to the feds coming in to try to get her.” His statement has raised serious legal concerns, as harboring illegal immigrants is a violation of U.S. immigration law.

Homan addressed the situation on Fox News, calling Murphy’s comments reckless and legally questionable. “If he’s knowingly harboring and concealing an illegal alien, that’s a violation of Title 8, United States Code 1324,” Homan stated. “I will seek prosecution or the secretary will seek prosecution.” He made it clear that he would not ignore Murphy’s admission and promised a thorough review of the situation.

Following the public backlash, Murphy’s office attempted to walk back his statement, claiming that his comments had been misunderstood. A spokesperson insisted that Murphy was referring to a legal resident and that no undocumented immigrant was actually living in his home. However, his refusal to clarify why he issued a direct challenge to federal law enforcement has only fueled more speculation.

Trump’s administration has ramped up immigration enforcement efforts, with ICE officers conducting large-scale operations in cities nationwide. Thousands of illegal immigrants have been arrested in the past two weeks, as federal agents crack down on those with criminal records and outstanding deportation orders. Homan has been vocal in his opposition to sanctuary policies, arguing that they put American citizens at risk by shielding criminal aliens from law enforcement.

The controversy surrounding Murphy’s remarks underscores the growing conflict between Trump’s federal immigration policies and Democrat-led states that continue to resist enforcement efforts. With Homan’s vow to investigate, the situation could escalate into a major legal battle that tests the limits of state defiance against federal immigration law.
