Donald Trump Jr. has issued a strong warning to Republicans, urging them to avoid complacency regarding former President Donald Trump’s chances in the upcoming 2024 election. Speaking from Milwaukee during the Republican National Convention, Trump Jr. stressed the need for unwavering effort and focus as the campaign progresses.
“People are like, ‘Oh, after Saturday it’s over,'” Trump Jr. said, referencing the recent assassination attempt on his father at a Pennsylvania rally. He quickly dismissed this notion, emphasizing, “Nothing is over,” and urging campaign members to “keep our foot on the gas every second of the day” until November.
Trump Jr. cautioned that the opposition would go to any lengths to defeat his father, claiming, “There’s no level the other side won’t go. There’s no nonsense they won’t play.” He suggested that if his father were to lose, it would likely be due to “cheating” by Democrats.
Highlighting the importance of downballot races, Trump Jr. emphasized the need to win across the board, securing control of the Senate in addition to maintaining the GOP majority in the House. “I think you have to win across the board, not just congressional or Senate races. I want to win legislatures, I want to win school boards,” he explained.
Commenting on the influence of Rupert Murdoch among conservatives, Trump Jr. noted that Murdoch’s power “is not what it used to be.” He added, “There was a time when if you wanted to survive in the Republican Party, you had to bend the knee to him or to others. I don’t think that’s the case anymore.”
Trump Jr.’s remarks reflect the GOP’s strategy to maintain momentum, focus on both national and local races, and remain vigilant against any potential obstacles. As the election campaign intensifies, his call to action underscores the importance of dedication and hard work to secure victory in November.
