Trump Hotel Bomber Suspect Linked To Ukraine Recruitment, Mother’s Posts In Question

Matthew Livelsberger, a 37-year-old Green Beret, has been identified as the suspect behind the New Year’s Day bombing outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas. Livelsberger’s ties to Ukraine and his strong anti-Trump sentiments have raised questions about the political motivations behind the attack.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill confirmed that a Tesla Cybertruck packed with explosives was used in the bombing. McMahill noted, “There’s obviously things to be concerned about,” as investigators examine Livelsberger’s connections.

Social media posts suggest Livelsberger recruited mercenaries to fight in Ukraine’s war against Russia, offering $550 a day with lodging and travel included. A 2016 photo shows him wearing a shirt emblazoned with “Slava Ukraini,” meaning “Glory to Ukraine,” a slogan linked to Ukrainian nationalism.

Livelsberger’s wife, Sarah, also drew scrutiny for past social media posts expressing hostility toward President Donald Trump. In one post from 2015, she wrote that following Trump’s social media made her “want to kill someone.” Investigators are exploring whether her rhetoric influenced Livelsberger’s actions.

The attack bears similarities to the activities of Ryan Routh, a failed assassin with a history of recruiting for Ukraine. Routh reportedly visited Fort Bragg, Livelsberger’s former station, more than 100 times, though it is unclear if the two were connected.

Authorities are continuing to probe Livelsberger’s background, focusing on his military service, recruitment efforts, and political motivations as part of their investigation into the bombing.
