Trump Floats Possibility Of Offering Elon Musk A Cabinet Position
President Donald Trump suggested Monday that he would offer tech mogul Elon Musk a role in his Cabinet if the Tesla CEO were interested. Speaking in an interview, Trump highlighted Musk’s intelligence and business acumen, calling him a “brilliant guy” and indicating that he would welcome his participation in the administration.
“If he would do it, I certainly would,” Trump stated. The former president and Musk have recently collaborated on Musk’s social media platform X, where they discussed various topics ranging from the economy to technological innovation. Musk has publicly supported Trump during this election cycle, although he has denied claims of making direct financial contributions to Trump’s campaign. Nonetheless, he has acknowledged giving to a pro-Trump political action committee.
During the same interview, Trump expressed skepticism toward the $7,500 electric vehicle tax credit, raising questions about whether he might seek to eliminate it if re-elected. The stance could be seen as ironic, given Musk’s leadership of Tesla, a company that has benefited from these incentives. However, Trump remained noncommittal on the issue, stating, “I’m not making any final decisions on it.”
Additionally, Trump emphasized the need to boost domestic car manufacturing, saying he would support policies that encourage foreign automakers to build plants in the U.S. and hire American workers. “We’re going to make our own cars,” he said, positioning this as a priority for his economic agenda.
