President Donald Trump has dismissed Air Force Gen. Charles “CQ” Brown from his role as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, fulfilling his promise to remove military leaders who prioritized diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives over military readiness.

In a statement on Truth Social, Trump acknowledged Brown’s service but made it clear that leadership changes were needed. He announced that Lt. Gen. Dan “Razin” Caine would take over as chairman, calling him a “warfighter” who played a key role in defeating ISIS during his first administration.

Brown, who was appointed by Joe Biden, came under fire for promoting DEI policies in the Air Force, including efforts to increase minority officer recruitment while reducing the percentage of white male applicants. His approach sparked criticism for prioritizing racial quotas over merit.

Brown also publicly expressed his emotions over the George Floyd riots, reinforcing concerns that military leadership had become politically driven.
