Outrage As Planned Parenthood Uses Federal Funds To Sway School Board Races

Planned Parenthood is injecting itself into Pennsylvania school board elections, sparking outrage over what critics call a dangerous misuse of its federal subsidies. The organization plans to fund candidates who support its progressive policies, including explicit sexual education and gender ideology.

This move is part of a broader effort to reshape children’s education without parental input. Planned Parenthood actively promotes medical interventions for minors, including hormone treatments, while sidelining the role of families in making such decisions. Critics argue that this approach is both harmful and inappropriate for a nonprofit funded in part by taxpayer dollars.

Gov. Josh Shapiro’s administration has embraced Planned Parenthood’s influence. Shapiro met with the organization’s leaders early in his term to discuss expanding abortion access, further entrenching its role in state politics. His deputy chief of staff, Lindsey Mauldin, previously worked for Planned Parenthood, cementing its connection to the governor’s office.

Tina Descovich, co-founder of Moms for Liberty, blasted Planned Parenthood’s involvement in school board elections. “This nonprofit should not be using federal funds to interfere with how schools are run,” Descovich said. “Parents will not stand for this.”

Planned Parenthood’s efforts extend beyond endorsements. The organization has provided training to hundreds of teachers on controversial topics, including gender identity. Opponents argue these programs are designed to normalize radical views under the guise of inclusivity.

The group’s growing influence in public schools highlights the dangers of allowing federally subsidized nonprofits to dictate educational policies. Parents and concerned citizens are calling for greater accountability and stronger protections against outside interference in local elections.
