Meta CEO Applauds Trump’s Resilience In Wake Of Attack
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg commended President Donald Trump for his resilient response to an attempted assassination during a recent campaign rally.
During an interview with Bloomberg News, Zuckerberg, 40, shared his admiration for Trump’s actions. He described the moment as one of the most remarkable displays of toughness he had ever witnessed, highlighting the impact of Trump’s unyielding spirit.
Trump had been banned from Facebook and Instagram following the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, but his accounts were reinstated two years later. Despite the past tensions, Zuckerberg announced that he will not endorse any candidate in the 2024 election, emphasizing a shift in Meta’s approach to political content.
The incident occurred on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania, when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks tried to assassinate Trump. Several bullets narrowly missed Trump’s head, with one grazing his ear. Despite the attack, Trump stood up, raised his fist, and shouted “fight, fight, fight” as blood streamed down his face. This act of defiance has been hailed as a powerful symbol of resilience both in the U.S. and around the world. The attack also resulted in injuries to two rally attendees, and Corey Comperatore, a former fire chief, tragically lost his life while protecting his family.
Zuckerberg noted that users have expressed a preference for less political content on social media, as they primarily use these platforms to connect with friends and family. “The main thing that I hear from people is that they actually want to see less political content on our services because they come to our services to connect with people,” he told Bloomberg. Meta has already begun adjusting its content recommendations accordingly. “I think you’re going to see our services play less of a role in this election than they have in the past,” he added.
