Liz Cheney Suggests Neoconservative Party Needed To Replace Trump-Influenced GOP
Disgraced former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) has publicly suggested that a new neoconservative party may be needed to replace the GOP if it continues to support President Donald Trump. Cheney and her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, have already endorsed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris for president, indicating their dissatisfaction with the Republican Party’s current direction.
Cheney criticized the GOP for becoming what she described as “a tool” for Trump, claiming the party has moved away from its traditional conservative values. She argues that a new political entity may be required to stand for the policies she believes in, which the GOP no longer represents.
The Cheney family has historically supported foreign military interventions, a position that puts them at odds with Trump’s more non-interventionist approach. Trump has repeatedly stated that the Republican Party is moving away from figures like Paul Ryan and Karl Rove, signaling a departure from neoconservative ideology.
Cheney also expressed her concerns about the Republican Party’s commitment to certifying election results in 2024. She strongly opposes Rep. Mike Johnson becoming Speaker of the House, fearing that the GOP would refuse to certify results if Trump were to lose.
