Homan Says ACLU Won’t Derail Trump’s Mass Deportation Plans

Tom Homan, soon to be the border czar under President-elect Donald Trump, declared Friday on Fox News that the American Civil Liberties Union’s (ACLU) legal opposition won’t succeed in halting Trump’s large-scale deportation program.

The ACLU filed a lawsuit in November demanding transparency from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) about how it will execute Trump’s pledge to conduct the “largest deportation program in American history.” Despite these legal maneuvers, Homan remains confident the plan will proceed.

“They’re not going to stop us,” Homan said on “Jesse Watters Primetime.” He emphasized that prioritizing public safety is at the heart of the strategy. “We want to put public safety threats first. No one should be against removing public safety threats out of the community, especially if they’re here illegally,” he added.

Homan criticized sanctuary city policies that shield illegal immigrants, saying they endanger communities. “When they knowingly release a public safety threat back into the community, it puts everyone at risk,” Homan explained. He underscored the importance of arrests occurring in controlled environments, such as jails, to maximize safety for officers, detainees and the public.

Homan also expressed enthusiasm for South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem’s pending confirmation as director of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). “With President Trump, Kristi Noem and myself, we’ll get this done,” he said, affirming his commitment to advancing Trump’s immigration agenda.

The ACLU has coordinated with Democratic officials, including mayors in Chicago, Tucson and Denver, who have pledged to resist ICE’s efforts. The organization is also urging Congress to cut funding to DHS’ immigration enforcement arm to block Trump’s plans, calling the policies “inhumane.”

Homan remains undeterred, stating, “They can make it difficult, but they’re not going to stop us.”
