Gabbard Cracks Down On CIA Corruption, Fires Over 100 Intelligence Staffers

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard is taking decisive action against corruption within the intelligence agencies, launching a broad effort to remove officials engaged in misconduct. As part of this cleanup, Gabbard is responding forcefully to reports of CIA agents allegedly considering selling state secrets to foreign adversaries and has directed the termination of more than 100 intelligence employees involved in explicit online chats.

During an appearance on Fox News, Gabbard addressed concerns about CIA agents who, frustrated by the Trump administration’s push for accountability, have suggested they might leak classified information. She criticized these individuals for attempting to manipulate public opinion through media outlets like CNN. “They’re exposing themselves essentially by making this indirect threat using their propaganda arm through CNN,” she said. “Their loyalty is not at all to America.”

Gabbard’s efforts align with President Donald Trump’s broader mandate to overhaul the intelligence community and remove those who have prioritized personal agendas over national security. She emphasized that this cleanup is necessary to restore public trust in these agencies, ensuring they are focused on protecting Americans.

In addition to dealing with potential security threats from discontented CIA officials, Gabbard has taken swift action against intelligence personnel misusing government resources. More than 100 intelligence staffers have been identified for termination due to their participation in explicit group chats hosted on Intelink, a secure network managed by the National Security Agency. The chat groups, labeled “LBTQA” and “IC_Pride_TWG,” were reportedly used for discussions that violated professional conduct standards.

“This behavior is unacceptable and those involved WILL be held accountable,” Gabbard stated in a post on X. The chat groups were immediately shut down following Trump’s executive order dismantling diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in the federal government, which Gabbard described as “DEI insanity the Biden Admin was obsessed with.”

Deputy Chief of Staff Alexa Henning confirmed that Gabbard issued a directive to all intelligence agencies instructing them to identify the employees involved and revoke their security clearances by Friday. Gabbard reinforced this message in her Fox News interview, stating, “There are over 100 people from across the intelligence community that contributed to and participated in this egregious violation of trust. They all will be terminated and their security clearances will be revoked.”
The CIA is reportedly planning its largest firing of officers in nearly 50 years, focusing on those involved in DEI programs.

While the exact number of personnel affected remains unclear, the agency has already begun dismantling several DEI initiatives in compliance with Trump’s executive order. In 1977, CIA Director Stansfield Turner removed nearly 200 clandestine officers, marking the last major restructuring of this scale.

Earlier this month, the CIA also introduced a severance offer to all employees, providing approximately eight months of salary and benefits. This move is seen as an effort to encourage voluntary departures among those unwilling to align with the administration’s policies.
