Biden’s Immigration Policy Drains FEMA Funds, Leaving Americans Without Help After Hurricane

FEMA is running out of money to help Americans recover from Hurricane Helene, and critics are blaming the Biden-Harris administration’s immigration policies for the shortfall. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas admitted that the agency has spent more than $640 million in fiscal year 2024 on noncitizens, leaving little left for Americans suffering in the aftermath of the storm.

Hurricane Helene devastated communities across the Southeast, killing over 160 people and leaving thousands displaced. FEMA has registered more than 150,000 households for assistance, but as Mayorkas acknowledged, the agency does not have the funds to continue its relief efforts through the rest of the hurricane season.

Many conservatives are outraged that the administration’s spending on noncitizens has left the agency unable to fully support American disaster victims. “This is the result of a failed immigration policy that prioritizes noncitizens over American families,” said Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL). Critics argue that FEMA’s resources are being drained by Biden’s open-border policies, leaving U.S. citizens to suffer after major disasters.

As hurricane season continues, the crisis only deepens, with federal funds being stretched thin. While Congress recently approved $20 billion in additional funding for FEMA, many are questioning why so much of the agency’s budget was used to support those who entered the country illegally. Americans are now paying the price for the administration’s choices.
