Anti-Israel Protests Planned Ahead Of Netanyahu’s Address To Congress

President Donald Trump announced he will host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago this Friday, following a shift from an initial Thursday schedule. This visit comes as Vice President Kamala Harris declined to preside over Netanyahu’s congressional address set for Wednesday.
Trump’s Truth Social post read, “Looking forward to welcoming Bibi Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, on Thursday. During my first term, we had Peace and Stability in the Region, even signing the historic Abraham Accords – And we will have it again.” He further asserted his “PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH” agenda as essential for ending ongoing global conflicts, highlighting Harris’s perceived inadequacies in this area.
Netanyahu’s address to Congress will focus on US-Israel relations amidst the conflict with Hamas and other Iran-supported factions. This visit has led to planned anti-Israel protests in Washington, D.C., prompting congressional offices to bolster security measures. Roll Call reported preparations to handle these demonstrations.
“For safety reasons, we never provide specific security details, but generally we can say that our plan includes adding more officers — including from several outside agencies — continuing our robust intelligence sharing with our partners, and ensuring that we have enough resources for our teams,” a Capitol Police representative said.
Netanyahu’s visit and the ensuing protests underscore the deep divisions and strong sentiments surrounding US-Israel relations and the broader Middle East conflict.
