ABC Moderators Called Out For Bias: ‘3 On 1’ During Debate With Trump
During the first 2024 presidential debate, many viewers accused ABC News moderators of showing bias by repeatedly fact-checking President Donald Trump while giving Vice President Kamala Harris a pass. Moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis drew criticism for what appeared to be a “three on one” scenario, with Trump himself posting on Truth Social after the debate, saying, “three on one.”
Throughout the debate, the moderators called out Trump on multiple occasions. Davis interrupted when Trump mentioned states allowing post-birth executions, and Muir fact-checked him on his statement about Haitian immigrants in Ohio eating residents’ pets. Despite these moments, Harris was not held to the same standard. For instance, when Harris incorrectly claimed Trump was against in vitro fertilization, a subject he has long supported, neither Muir nor Davis corrected her.
Social media quickly lit up with users pointing out the apparent imbalance in how the two candidates were treated. Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., took to X (formerly Twitter) to highlight the perceived bias and how it affected the flow of the debate.
Many supporters of Trump felt that Harris was allowed to make false claims without pushback, while Trump faced constant interruptions and challenges. The debate, which was held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, left many conservative viewers frustrated with the moderators’ handling of the event.
As the campaigns move forward, the possibility of a second debate remains uncertain, with both sides weighing the impact of this contentious encounter.
